Latest Trends in FEI

The Financial Officers Forum has a new date. FOF will now take place on March 27th. This program is designed for senior finance professionals who are currently providing consulting or advisory services to organizations.

The format is highly interactive and peer-driven, with participants bringing real-time client issues to the table and exchanging practical solutions, best practices, and trusted referrals. Past discussions have been especially rich around AI and its practical implementation in finance, along with other real-world topics such as accounting systems for small businesses, PEO advantages and challenges, compensation approaches for small company board members, ASC 606 audit experiences, and more.

The most powerful aspect of FOF is the opportunity to learn from peers while sharing practical, real-world lessons that can be applied immediately in client work. When registering, attendees are encouraged to submit a question or topic they would like the group to address so the conversation can be tailored to current challenges in the field.

Financial Officers Forum (FOF) will be held virtually on Friday, March 27th, from 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm Pacific.

Join us for a relaxed and lively day on the course filled with laughter, fresh air, friendly competition, and great company, all while helping raise funds that make a real difference. Grab a friend, rally a foursome, or come solo and meet new people. We promise a memorable day both on and off the course!

If you’re not familiar with golfing, no big deal! This tournament is a scramble, which means it’s designed to be fun and beginner-friendly. You’ll play as part of a foursome, and for each shot, the group uses the best ball. That way, everyone benefits from the strongest play on the team!

Even if you’ve never picked up a club before, you can still have a great time and contribute. Ladies, you are invited to take advantage of the Pre-Tournament Golf Clinic (details below) to get comfortable and build confidence before hitting the course.

Cases of Ex-Uber Officer, SolarWinds Offer Data Security Lessons

Two landmark cases involving public companies and their cybersecurity executives offer some crucial lessons in corporate governance, transparency, program boundaries, and data privacy.

One case was the first Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement action that charged a chief information security officer, or CISO, as well as the company, and the first accounting control claim, based on cybersecurity failings.

The other case, involving Uber Technologies Inc., was the first criminal prosecution and conviction of a chief security officer, or CSO, concerning information provided after a data breach.

Pillsbury partners note that the lessons learned from these cases are that transparency is mandatory in disclosing data breaches, that bug bounty programs must be reviewed and audited, that disclosure decisions must be placed under legal and board oversight, and that companies must have a complete understanding of the cyberthreat landscape.
