Basic Planning That Can Prevent $1M Losses From a Cyberattack
Financial and operations leaders face many non-technical decisions that can make all the difference in limiting the severity of financial losses, work stoppage, legal liability, and reputation damage. There are basic steps executive teams can take to prepare for an effective incident response and avoid a worst-case scenario in the event of a ransomware or data compromise.
Many decisions involve strategic, financial, and operational considerations with no easy answers. But the more leadership thinks about these questions and practices gaming out contingencies, the better chance you have of walking away with minimal disruptions to your business.
With such significant financial stakes, it’s helpful to make decisions grounded with a firm understanding of what the real-world impact of a cyberattack might be for your unique operation.
Assessing which systems your business relies on for different functions ahead of time and quantifying the potential financial losses if certain systems remain down helps decision-makers prioritize and evaluate trade-offs during the crisis.

Crisis-Proofing Cash: A Framework for Corporate Liquidity Resiliency
Cash resilience is ultimately measured by one question: Can obligations be met when markets are under stress? FEI's Crisis-Proofing Cash: A Framework for Liquidity Resiliency is a session that examines how treasury and finance leaders can apply lessons from past market disruptions to evaluate the resilience of their current cash strategy.
From the global financial crisis to the regional bank failures of 2023, recent crises have demonstrated that not all cash instruments behave uniformly when liquidity tightens. This virtual panel discussion will introduce a practical framework for assessing counterparty exposures, liquidity assumptions, and structural risks, as well as explore how direct ownership of U.S. Treasury bills can support operational continuity when markets shift.
Crisis-Proofing Cash: A Framework for Corporate Liquidity Resiliency will be held virtually on Tuesday, February 10th, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Pacific.

Join New FEI SV Networking Group
FEI Silicon Valley (FEI SV) launched a networking group in September 2025. We have approximately fourteen CFO members and partner sponsors in the networking group. The participants have found the networking group helpful, especially with the use of “troikas,” which are groups of three who get together to find out more about each of their businesses and how they may be able to help each other through referrals. If you aren’t familiar with networking groups, the following is some information that explains how they work.
Networking groups work by bringing professionals together to build relationships, exchange knowledge, and generate opportunities like leads, partnerships, and mentorship through regular meetings, events, and shared resources, fostering a supportive environment for mutual business growth, often through structured introductions, casual mingling, and specific referral systems.
Core Mechanisms
- Relationship Building: The primary goal is to form connections based on trust and credibility, not just direct sales.
- Information Exchange: Members share industry insights, best practices, and market trends through meetings, workshops, and seminars.
- Referral Systems: Members actively refer business to each other, creating a pipeline of potential clients.
- Mutual Support: Groups provide a platform for collaboration, mentorship, and problem-solving.
- Increased Visibility: Active participation boosts members' presence and reputation in their fields.

Mergers, Acquisitions and Risk: Four Insurance Considerations for Growing Businesses
Merger and acquisition activity is increasing. According to Reuters, research from the Boston Consulting Group shows that deal volume hit $1.938 trillion between January and September 2025, a 10% year-over-year increase. This shows that despite some uncertainty regarding U.S. tariff policies and geopolitical conflicts, deal activity is strong.
Much of the activity occurred in the third quarter of 2025, when Deloitte says the U.S. M&A market experienced a dramatic turn. The value of deals rose by 56%. Heading into 2026, experts call for deal-making optimism in light of these figures.
For the individual businesses navigating deals, mergers and acquisitions represent an exciting opportunity to supercharge growth. However, a deal can also be a perilous time, with a heightened risk for litigation from investors, employees, competitors, and other parties.
