Silicon Valley Technology Trends: How Will They Impact Finance?

What impact will new technologies such as RPA, Block chain, IOT, Machine Learning and more have on finance?  Since we are in the heart of where it is all happening, we are bringing together some of the Valley’s top emerging tech finance leaders from Google, Cisco and Infosys to discuss the latest technology trends, as well as real-life case studies of what has been implemented and the real problems that have been solved.  This unique discussion will feature a highly-interactive brainstorming element designed to deepen the knowledge and skill set of all attendees!

Somya Chauhan

Somya Chauhan. Somya is an explorer, advisor and accountant. In her official capacity, Somya is the financial controller at Google, where she is responsible for the company’s global expenses, month close reporting and day-to-day operations. Somya has also trained to be a career coach. She facilitates a leadership development program at Google and also offers one-on-one career coaching. Prior to Google, she worked at HP and EY. She is also on the board of GirlVentures.

Outside of work, Somya is passionate about hiking and loves to travel, most recently having trekked the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu with her daughter. Somya grew up in India, where she majored in English Literature at Delhi University. After relocating to the United States, she earned a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

 

Julia Yang

Julia Yang is a Finance executive with global experience in Planning, Budgeting, M&A, Costing, Accounting and Supply Chain Operations, primary competency in building and motivating global teams, driving successful transformational changes, and delivering superior performance.

 

Before she joined Cisco as Finance Director managing Supply Chain Operation, she worked for Lenovo Group as regional Finance CFO and a couple other Finance leader roles for IBM.

 

Gargi Ray
VP, Global Controller of Revenues
Infosys Limited

 

Gargi is the Vice President -Global Controller of Revenues for Infosys Limited(NYSE-INFY), with over 12+ billion USD in revenues. She is primarily responsible for monitoring revenue leakage in contracts with 1000+ customers and reporting revenues as per the global accounting standards. She leads a global team of 100+ professionals. She specializes in deal strategy and assessment and mitigation of contract risks.

 

She has been the Technical Accounting and SEC reporting Head and also the head of Investor Relations in Infosys. As an evangelist she has made a lot of contribution with the national and international standard setters in testing of accounting standards and also the XBRL language.

 

By profession she is a licensed CPA, since 2005, from the State Board of California and Colorado and Chartered Accountant from India for over 17 years. She is also an alumni of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and has been a member of the Accountancy Standard Board and the Research Board of Indian Chartered Accountants of India. She is also a committee member of the Securities Exchange Board of India- IFRS committee for evaluation of the IFRS standards and its application.

 

She has been awarded the Professional Achiever Award by the National Standard setter in India. She has completed the leadership certification from Stanford, Graduate School of Business, CA, USA.
