Jim Westbury
VP, Financial Planning & Analysis
Technology Credit Union

Jim’s core strengths, mastered over two decades of experience, are in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), forecasting, financial modeling, budgeting, and leadership. He has a demonstrated specialized proficiency in interest rate risk (IRR) modeling, asset-liability management (ALM), business development, and public speaking. Jim has a strong background in collaborating across organizations, building and motivating high-performing teams, and achieving consistent results.

Jim has successfully and seamlessly transitioned between industries, job responsibilities, and geographically, without skipping a beat. His innate ability to quickly adapt allowed him to gain valuable first-hand experience in project management, marketing, and sales; while simultaneously differentiating himself as a well-rounded and stronger business professional. As an example, Jim effectively integrated these skills into his current role, allowing him to source $150M in new deposits in less than 4 months; equating to 70% of total annual growth, reducing the loan-to-deposit ratio to 93.6% from 99.9%, and increasing net interest income by over $4.8M annually.

Jim was born and raised in Michigan. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in finance from Michigan State University, and he graduated with high distinction from Walsh College, where he earned his masters of science in finance. While attending Walsh College, Jim was awarded several academic scholarships, and he stumbled on a new passion (the importance of education and teaching) while volunteering as a tutor, teaching his peers financial concepts. Since his initial tutoring sessions, Jim volunteered at Breakthrough Silicon Valley, mentoring and teaching under-resourced high school students about the foundational principles of finance, and he has lectured students at San Jose State University on multiple occasions, presenting a well-received thorough overview on credit scores. In addition, in honor and recognition of his grandparents and parents, Jim established an endowed scholarship fund at Michigan State University, continuing their selfless generosity of paying it forward.
