State Controller Betty T. Yee was elected in November 2014, following two terms on the Board of Equalization, where she continues to serve as a voting member. Reelected as Controller in 2018, Yee chairs Franchise Tax Board and serves on the boards of CalPERS and CalSTRS. Yee has more than 35 years in public service, specializing in finance and tax policy. Her team is responsible for financial reporting, audits, and issuing more than 49 million payments a year. Through the pandemic, she has worked to reimagine SCO as a workplace of the future. Yee previously served as Chief Deputy Director for Budget with the Department of Finance, and in senior positions for several legislative committees.
