Mobility Data Analytics

Mobility Analytics is the science that gathers and analyses vast amounts of data generated by the movement of people, vehicles, goods and the infrastructure surrounding these, to provide valuable insights for a wide range of industries, including automotive,  e-commerce, transportation, logistics, and city design.

Zoom in to hear the impressive story of former Chairman, Arif Janjua, Citilabs Inc. who, together with his team, led the management buyout of a predecessor company and scaled the business to serve customers in 2500 cities in 70 countries globally.

Mr. Janjua will discuss the company’s growth and how they decided to sell the business and what that process of selling a business was like. As with any entrepreneur’s journey, there are fascinating twists and turns on their path to success.

  • What prompted their decision to sell the business, and how they decided on timing of this sale.
  • How they selected the right M&A advisor to represent them in the sale.
  • How the company was prepared for the sale, and the story to position it with US and international buyers.
  • The important role of the CFO is the entire sale process, including due diligence.

 

Speaker:

Arif Janjua  has over 35 years experience in operational management and consulting in the software, mobile and internet services industry. Most recently, Arif was Chairman of Citilabs, a mobility analytics company spun out of a large transportation conglomerate.  Leveraging Citilabs’ strong modeling and simulation heritage, Arif led the strategic growth for commercial applications and spearheaded its eventual sale to Bentley Systems. As an operational manager, Arif was the CEO of idrive, a venture backed company in online storage services providing rich media data management solutions to mobile users. Prior to that, he was a member of the founding management team of Saraide, a mobile data services provider acquired by Infospace in 1999. At Infospace, as President of Consumer Services, he managed the business development and advertising sales organization. He was instrumental in forging relationships with mobile operators and content providers around the world.  Subsequently, Arif  headed the Corporate Development function where he oversaw a number of acquisitions that expanded the breadth of Infospace’s offerings to telecom and internet service providers. Earlier in his career, Arif worked for S3, a graphics semiconductor company and was Director of Marketing at the Imaging and Graphics Division of Gould Electronics.

In his consulting life, Arif was a Partner and Managing Director with the Boston Consulting Group and prior to that, he held global practice leadership roles at A.T. Kearney and Strategic Decisions Group. His clients included some of the leading technology companies and mobile operators around the globe. Arif received his Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Windsor, Canada, and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
