Laura Francis, CEO, SI-BONE, Inc. (SIBN) publicly traded company on NASDAQ will share her experience as a public company CEO and the board. She will also tell her story of transitioning from a CFO of a public company to CEO. She will share strengths and challenges for CFO’s interested in becoming CEO’s, providing information on key competencies and recommendations for the transition and how to position yourself for board service and tips for new Directors.

Learning objectives:

  • Identify ways to have impact and areas to develop if you are a CFO interested in the CEO role
  • Understand key competencies required in the CEO role and how to develop those competencies
  • Learn how to position yourself for board service
  • Make the most of your time once you’ve made it to the boardroom

Laura A. Francis has served as our Chief Executive Officer and a Director on our Board since April 2021. As our Chief Financial Officer since May 2015 and Chief Operating Officer since July 2019, Ms. Francis played a fundamental role in bringing the company public in October 2018 and building the operations of the business. Prior to joining SI-BONE, Ms. Francis held other executive and leadership roles with public and private life science companies, including Auxogyn, now part of Progyny (Nasdaq: PGNY), Promega Corporation, and Bruker Corporation (Nasdaq: BRKR). Earlier in her career, she was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company and Audit Manager with Coopers & Lybrand, now PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms. Francis has been a Director for Shockwave Medical (Nasdaq: SWAV) since January 2019, where she serves as Audit Committee Chair and Compensation Committee Member. She received a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) in the State of California.

Registration Policy

  • Qualified Potential Members may attend once as a guest and one additional time with guest fee (which may be applied to membership fee within 60 days).
  • Scholarship Alumni winners can attend once a year for free.
  • Non-members who do not qualify for membership may attend once a year, must be referred by an active member and pay the guest fee.
  • Partners may invite guests in accordance with the Partner Arrangement.
